Artificial Intelligence (AI) is transforming every aspect of society — from healthcare and education to finance, manufacturing, transportation and scientific discovery. As AI continues to reshape industries and economies, there is an increasing need to identify, nurture and inspire the next generation of AI researchers, innovators and technology leaders.
Universities remain a critical source of foundational AI research, innovative ideas and exceptional talent. Together with industry, they continue to drive advances in artificial intelligence and develop solutions that address real-world challenges.
The International Collegiate Artificial Intelligence Contest (ICAIC) has been established to provide an international platform where outstanding university students can demonstrate their AI capabilities, collaborate across cultures, learn from world-class researchers and engage directly with industry.
Hosted by the National University of Singapore (NUS), ICAIC aims to become one of the world's premier international collegiate AI competitions.
Today, there are many excellent AI competitions, including Kaggle competitions, NeurIPS competitions, research competitions and university hackathons. These initiatives have significantly contributed to advancing AI research and innovation.
ICAIC is designed to complement, not replace these initiatives.
Rather than focusing on a single research challenge or open online participation, ICAIC adopts an Olympiad-style format that brings together invited teams from leading universities around the world for an annual international competition combining technical excellence, collaboration and innovation.
ICAIC seeks to become the collegiate equivalent of international Olympiads, providing a global platform where outstanding AI students can compete, exchange ideas and build lifelong professional relationships.
ICAIC is intended to become much more than a competition. It aims to establish an international ecosystem connecting outstanding students, universities, researchers and industry partners.
Through ICAIC, participants will have opportunities to
Sponsors and participating universities will be encouraged to offer internships, research attachments, scholarships and collaborative opportunities through ICAIC.
Over time, ICAIC alumni will form a global community of future AI leaders working together across academia and industry.
